Development and Outreach Lead
Summary of Job Description:
Cascadia Wild is seeking a part-time Development and Outreach Lead to join our team. This role will be responsible for initiating a corporate giving program, promoting membership and donations, and assisting with outreach for volunteer recruitment and class promotion. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in expanding the scope of our outreach and fundraising efforts to support our conservation and educational initiatives. The responsibilities of this position are diverse, and we are looking for an innovative person with a diverse skill set and a passion for what we do.
Responsibilities:
Membership and Donor Relations:
Promote membership and individual donations.
Send thank you notes and renewal reminders.
Maintain accurate records of members and donors.
Cultivate relationships with recurring and potential large donors.
Coordinate with other fundraising efforts by the board.
Corporate Fundraising:
Initiate a corporate fundraising program, working in conjunction with board members.
Present pitches and solicitations to companies to secure corporate donations.
Outreach:
Oversee the organization's social media channels.
Assist in promoting classes and recruiting volunteers.
Expand outreach efforts through reaching out to relevant organizations and individuals.
Organize tabling events or other outreach initiatives.
As time allows, assist with website maintenance, updating promotional materials, and monthly newsletter.
Requirements:
Proven experience in fundraising and outreach efforts
Non-profit work experience
Enthusiasm for wildlife conservation
Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
Proficiency in using social media platforms for marketing purposes.
Ability to think creatively
Position:
This is a contract position at $24/hour for 20 hours per week. The position starts in September and runs for 6 months, with the potential for being extend and growing to full-time.
Hours are flexible. Much of the work can be done remotely, but in-person engagements in the Portland area are required.

Cascadia Wild is dedicated to connecting all people with the natural world, combining modern ecology with ancient practices of living with the earth. We do this by teaching naturalist skills, creating meaningful interactions with local natural areas, and providing stewardship opportunities for serving the wildlife, forests, and land of the Pacific Northwest.
We offer programs in animal tracking, wild plant foraging, and wilderness survival. Our largest program is a volunteer-based wildlife survey project on Mt Hood, called the Wolverine Tracking Project, in which volunteers help survey for wolverine and other rare carnivores. It is our vision that through increasing people's understanding of their place in our interconnected ecosystems, people will be better able to act with care and respect for the natural world.
Cascadia Wild is a small but growing, local non-profit, and this position will be the second paid staff member. This position is a unique opportunity to work closely with both the Board of Directors and the Wolverine Tracking Project Coordinator to help expand the presence of the organization.
