Dylan, Paul and Mike got to the White River parking lot just in time to set up our booth. We had a couple of tables, including a lovely kitchen tablecloth, lay out some plaster casts, a couple of pelts, a deer skull, and Waldo the wolverine. We spent the day talking with people interested in tracking, snowshoeing, search and rescue and more. The day was overcast but there was no rain. There was plenty of free food, coffee and hot chocolate and even free merino wool socks courtesy of Keen shoes. It's hard to say how many people showed up but there were hundreds...probably the low hundreds, though many were there for reasons other than the free snowshoe day.
The drive up and back was easy and safe over wet roads. There's not a lot of snow and what was left was that gritty late winter stuff. We need snow!!!
Next year it'd be good the have a banner of some sort, some printed business cards and maybe something to attract people to the booth. Dylan and Paul tried firestarting and that drew some attention. I'm not sure what we might try but I just wanted to put the idea out there now. It was a fun day. We left to drive back before 3pm and were at the CaW office before dark.
