About Us
Cascadia Wild is a nonprofit (501) (3c)
organization whose mission is to inspire personal connection
to nature and community. We strive to awaken people's feelings
of kinship with nature and increase their understanding of
how we are ultimately a part of, and sustained by, the natural
world. Cascadia Wild combines ancient and modern ecological
wisdom, teaching the language of nature through such forms
as wilderness living skills, animal tracking, sensory awreness
routines, the science of ecology, ethnobotany, and environmental
stewardship.
Our unique style of mentoring draws from
techniques used by indigenous cultures worldwide. We believe
in using hands-on, experiential learning that engages all
of the senses, tapping into a person's own natural curiosity,
in using nature as the teacher, and in combining learning
with stewardship. In all of our activities, we hope to foster
the awareness of a native tracker along with the knowldege
of a modern scientist. Our goal is to provide people with
a sense of place, both in the natural world an in their community,
which will lead them to become responsible stewards who will
caretake their environment and communities for future generations.
